Lake Beletsi

Lake Beletsi is located in Ippokratios Politia, just a 40-minute drive from the center of Athens with your scooter. It is a very popular destination for visitors, thanks to its enchanting, tranquil lake and the lush green landscape that surrounds it.

It is a well-hidden gem at the foothills of Mount Parnitha, and despite its small size (7,000 square meters), it holds great charm. The lake is situated at an altitude of 600 meters and is surrounded by plane trees, pines, and many other types of trees. It is an artificial lake created in 1975 and is now considered one of the most important wetlands in Attica, offering refuge to various species of fish, amphibians, and birds. Don’t be surprised if, during the winter months, you spot migratory birds such as cormorants and herons.

Around the lake, there are trails for walking and hiking through nature. You can also have a picnic with friends and family or, if you are more of an adventurous type, explore the area with a mountain bike. Lake Beletsi is the perfect destination for day trips and a natural oasis you definitely need to visit.
